Got a Sonic blue MY00 with the OZ alloys in gold. They're a bit knackered (were when i bought it) so i'm gonna book them in for a refurb later this week.

Question is do I go for the same colour, or try silver or anthracite. V tempted by anthracite as it looks so cool on a P1 (diff wheels i know)and won't show the dirt as much. Anyone with any thoughts or even better some piccies.

Is a painted finish OK or is powder coating best.

I had anthracite alloys on my P1. Got gold 18's now but I always thought a really shiny mirrored type anthracite would look well nice!

I had made up my mind for Anthracite, then saw Tunnelmeisters post a few down from here (I know there 18's etc) and it just looks so smooth ....

Mancamefirst,

don't believe that Anthracite don't show the dirt, they do mate!

And you have to keep them just a clean so the brake dust doesn't get a hold.

Got mine in the garage ready for a clean up this weekend, meanwhile, the gold's are great.

Bugger, I'd made up my mind yesterday......

Gotta decide tonite cos they're going in tomorrow morning.

Tunnelmeister I understand what you're saying, don't you find though that the fronts are changing colour compared to the rears within 15-20 miles of cleaning. I've got Pagid front brakes which I understand are comically bad for coating alloys, but I'm cleaning the bloody things almost daily. Hoped the anthracite would hold for a week without looking too bizarre.

mancamefirst,

yep, the fronts dirty up quick!!

Car does 30ish miles/day, m/way urban, 3 days before looking dirty.

I'm running Prodrive/Alcon 330mm with Mintex 1144 pads.

I wiped the Gold's for the 1st time this morning though with the higher contrast colour must say they did'nt look too bad!

For what its worth, the Gold's seem to have a much more highly polished finish then the Anthracite's.

Go for it!!!

Steve.

Did the deed this morning.

Their slave wheels wouldn't fit over my four pots, so its a bit Noah's ark, the good thing is once the first two are done I can revert to plan 7 if i don't like them.

After much soul searching, I've opted to go for sort of anthracite (its the Volvo 850 TR-5 colour). Fingers crossed, the decider was having had them Gold already. Still not sure though, and there was always black chrome to consider.....
