Don't know if this'll impreza you, but it's my DIY work. Need to work a little bit more on the letters, though.
Black Hammerite smooth, with brush.
Painted with calipers on. I think it looks OK! BTW anyone with opinions whether I should do the letters in grey instead?
Simen.
Edited to say I promise to clean the wheels this eve!

it was that expensive stuff from Halfords, about £19 for paint+de-greaser spray to clean brakes! (for got what the make is, think it starts with K)
it went for one coat!!!!! no need for anymore!
its really good stuff.
i would say that if you buy it, see if any of ur m8s what theirs doing at the same time.
i found i had enough paint left in the 250ml pot do do the whole street!!!!! i did the back calipers as well as the front, pot life is only 4hours.
see if you can share the cost of the paint!
the black lettering is Dulux'Trade' black gloss!! still on!! not come off yet!

mark,
I found halfords caliper paint worked very well. I used 4-5 coats per caliper, the paint is *very* viscous and dries quickly - approx 5-10 minutes. You can judge it yourself just by the depth of colour after wach coat.
The *important* thing is to clean the calipers properly - I removed surface rust with a dremel with steel brush attached & then used a degreaser (also available from Halfords).......
Hope that helps,
Gastro
