The coolest vehicle in Antarctica
#1
It sucks to be away from my Subaru...but I do get to ride in this!
This is one of the Hagglunds that we have here on station!
Another one.
I cannot take credit for taking these photos, and I do not know who did.

Wow! Thanks for all the replies guys! I am happy that I was able to find the pictures to share with everyone! I think that this is the coolest vehicle here in Antarctica!
I am not sure why thay call it "Uncle Buck", but they name EVERYTHING down here, I guess the lack of stimulation sparks creativity.
I will try and post the picture that SubieGal is talking about soon.
AWD - The wildlife is just starting to show up.

The thing on the top of the Hagglund is from the Comms shop down here. It's some sort of Radio equipment. I'd imagine it's used for "Deep Field" missions as that one is the S.A.R. Hagglund. I can find out for sure if you would like.
Cool thing about Antarctica and radios...we have Solar Storms quite often and the Flares knock out radio comms!
Merry Christmas!

SubiRacer, Is that a Hagglund BV206 Snow cat? have you driven it? I used to drive them down in the Falklands when I was employed as one of the Queens Private's, a seriously excellent machine well worth the 85,000 pound asking price, and great fun to scare the **** out of platoon comanders, a bugger to change the tracks though.
