Hi Simon,

I have finally seen your car!!

I use Dave West so I am always hearing about your motor, but always just miss seeing either you or your car at his place.

Looks really nice, btw do you drive it every day or is it just a track beast?

Cheers, see ya around

Richard

I had them custom made for my car. I have the mould for the early bonnet shape already, and the ones for the new bonnet shape are being produced as I speak.

Contact me via e-mail if you would like more details

Hi Richard,

Simon?

The car is almost exclusively used on the track nowadays for two reasons.

1. I use a bike everyday for work (only way to get into Central London)
2. The suspension is sooooo hard that it rearranges your internal organs on the road! It is however superb on the track. NO body roll at all, combined with slicks means no understeer and it drives like a go-cart

The originals have no function on the road car unless you remove the backing plate. When moving the scoops would force air in, and when stationary let air out. But again only if you remove the backing plate.

I read (dreamt possibly) that removing the backing plates caused cool areas under the bonnet which could cause problems.

I don't want to be a downer or anything...
The scoops look great BUT aren't the orginals designed to remove hot air from under the bonnet??

Question

Hmmmm, I know that you have to be careful when ducting cool air onto the brakes because you can crack them if you cool the outer face and not the inner.

I would have thought that the cool spots in the engine wouldn't have such varied temperatures as the brakes. Maybe the air sensor would misread things if the temperatures were a cooler than before?

I thought that the main reason for the smaller holes is to get the hot air out of the bonnet, not to suck air in. Getting the hot air out of the bonnet helps drive air through the radiator and reduces the amount of hot air "back pressure" around the Intercooler (as well as the ambient temp around it).

Stuart, could you do some facing backwards?

DavidRB, I could make some facing backwards, but I couldn't guarantee what they would look like, if I made them behind me!!!

I had the scoops designed for two reasons.
1. To help supply cooler air to my induction kit as it sits right next to a very hot engine.
2. To look different. (not necessarily better, according to some of you )

The scoops can be used with the standard blanking plates underneath, so you would have no cooling/heating problems then! I have not done any tests concerning reduced inlet temperatures, but also I am not claiming it makes any difference either!!

Mr Leigh the latest is the that due to holidays the manufacture has slipped back a couple of weeks, but I am hoping to start sending them out before the end of the month (at last).
