Finally got round to meshing the grill and bumper (needed to protect the FMIC from the usual Kingswells debris - bikes, skateboards, etc......) what is the impression then?
Car has a meaner "mouth" now - I like it

I feel inspired to do this, just from the pictures!
Looks well smart - need to source mesh, some 'bottle' as well to allow me to cut my beloved.
Nice looking car m8!

Nice, subtle mesh, i love your car too, especially that beautiful massive red pipe you have growing from your engine. Good to see a front mount for once, they are quite a rarity around here. I was just wondering, do you get much more turbo lag having the front mount?

Russell,
looking good.
So wa that you I heard, then spotted, without a front bumper? Think it was last week on the Kingswells roundabout. It was dark so couldn't see any mods.

I bought some mesh the other day to do this, due to my replacement bumper having no grilles, from B&Q of all places!!
Reasoning: Its THE SAME as the Ripspeed stuff, and an £18 sheet was TWICE the size of the Ripspeed £30 PIECE!!
They have a few different styles/sizes too!

CELL & Jonny T,
Initially I bought some mesh from a local builders merchants, but it soon oxidised and went a horrible dirty grey. So I would suggest buying some quality stuff. The Ripspeed mesh (purchased from Halfords) was fitted in August 2002 and despite many long journeys and bad weather, it still looks bright silver (might be something to do with how often I clean my car).
Now as for fitting, I think you will find Wuz has the best experience as he did his own. Both times mine was done by my local bodyshop. To my knowledge, once the appertures were cut/shaped, the mesh was cut to size and bonded to the bumper/bonnet etc. I believe they used the stuff that some bodyshops/manufacturers use to bond panels on - so its strong stuff. My roof spolier is bonded and has shown no signs of coming off, despite being trampled by some neanderthal a while back.
Two sheets of the Ripspeed mesh was sufficient to do the whole of my car and will set you back about £35 I think (unless you know someone who works there who can knock you some of the price ). Its worth checking Homebase as JT says, it could well work out a little cheaper - but check that it won't oxidise at the first sign of rain and road dirt/salt. Mail me if you want me to find out what stuff the bodyshop uses to bond the mesh.
Cheers,
Kevin
