I'm a Dutch law student with a part-time job, very interested in cars since the age of 4

Since 1995 I have had 5 Subaru's.

-A tuned Justy (600kilo) with 80 hp (8000rpm) which drove over 190km/h (It outran a Golf VR6 up to 80km/h...) The engine blew up after 200.000km. Pretty good since I started abusing it at 35.000km... Thinking about it now, it was madness
-A 1.6 Leone Stationwagon. Great for holidays, surfing etc etc. Too bad the one day my mother used that car she smashed it...
-A 1.6 Leone Coupe on LPG. Showroom condition until someone crashed into it. The engine could no longer stand the LPG fuel, so the car died at 210.000km.

I bought the 1990 Legacy (190.000km) a few months ago for the stunning amount of 1300 euro. Why that cheap? Nobody knows about the Legacy here, which keeps prices down. I could also buy a 1991 2.2i-16V 4WD with only 140.000km for the same price but I didn't like the black color... (ok and the insurance etc etc)

Someone at a Dutch Subaru board had a set of barely used 15" Impreza MY96 Special Edition wheels left, which I bought (with Michelin Pilots) for 100 euro. Thank u very much!

The engine is a 1.8i-16V, sounding very nice with K&N filter and a home-made exhaust. Since I don't want to spend to much money, and parts are hard to find, i'll leave it with that. Especially lowering is useless with all the speedbumps here in Holland.

For now I'll just add a set of Hella rallye lights on the front, and start concentrating on the audio. A second amplifier and new front speakers from JBL will do the trick. New brakes will be on the list as well, the original first set(!) is still mounted.

The car has now run over 205.000 km, but no signs of rust or engine wear. Amazing how everything still looks and feels like new, except for the steering wheel! It does over 220 (clock) on the German autobahn and reaches 100km/h within 9.5 sec.

Costs: Tax and insurance both 33 euro a month

As soon as I finish my study i'll buy an Impreza WRX-STI. Too bad they dídn't make a new SVX...

JP

ps: I also own a Subaru Leone Coupe from 1991. This is really a fun car to drive! You got to love the looks, but the design is from the period when Subaru's were really special (XT for example)
