Christian

That's good considering I take it, the turbo is quite a *blower*

Shows the advantages of a larger displacement.

What sort of torque did you get with the lack of boost you ran? Was it fairly constant after peak? i.e. holding good torque figures or did it fall away quite rapidly?

A

Hopefully, the car will be running 1.8bar of boost, just need to sort out the inlet pipe! and then go back over to england, for the fourth time!

Result of the rr are here:

http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/threa...hreadid=109194

Mine was having some problems though. The samco turbo inlet pipe could not cope with the pressure and was strangling the poor beast..

But managed to get @ 0.95bar, 359bhp @ 6293

So that would be the [coughs] highly accurate RR at a "Well" known (pardon the pun) place up North?!

Last time I was there it was giving some odd readings...

What spec is the hybrid turbo?

Do you have a lot of lag with it, or does the 2.5 help greatly?

alang - well spotted

I get 1bar of boost at around 3200rpm.

However, due to the samco turbo inlet pipe, cannot feel the full power just yet

Question

How much boost are you aiming at? About 1.4bar? What sort of power/torque do you want on full boost?

Parts are from all over the world - they came already pre-done to how I wanted it, and all I had to do was get a local garage to fit them.

Nice spec mate

Shame about that 40mph speed limit you have

Still, I'd love to live there

Nice spec, never seen a 2.5l conversion before. I bet Bergerac would've caught more criminals if he had one.

Good choice of base car too!

How did u get the 2.5 closed deck?? Is it a modified EJ25 motor, to make it closed deck, or what model comes with it as std? Strengthened crank??? How do you strengthen a crank?
Did the heads/manifolds from the EJ20 bolt straight on to the EJ25 short motor with no problems? I have seen some pices of the EJ22, and EJ25 in a US Haynes legacy manual, but they had only 3 main bearings, instead of the usual EJ20 5 bearing block. What was yours like, and im guessing the 3 main block would not be anywhere near as strong as the EJ20, crank included, as its design will be totally different??

stevie turbo.

I dont think christian would have given any thought to the cams etc.

the 2.5 does not come in closed deck form.
It has to be closed aftermarket.

There are a few companies who can do this, but it has to be done carefully, as welding in braces can distirt the bores.

To my knowledge the normal 2.5 and 2.2s have 5 main bearing journals, dont know what haynes manual has a picture of.

The crank is most likely standard.

the rigolis 550hp atw car runs a standard crank. they are forged already and due to the boxer design makign them shorter, seem to be able to handle massive torque in standard form.

the only concern I have is I reckon christians block is a phase 1 and not a phase 2. this had the crank thrust bearing at the end rather than in the middle and in the process had only 48mm main bearing journals instead of the 52mm of the phase 2.

Rich D

Its always been fairly consistent for me on Citreon AX's, Ford RS Turbo, Escort Cosworth's - increased speed on the road has alwayss been reflected in higher figures on the rollers - always - though this Sunday the Torque figures were a little bit low! - although thre torque figures are usually overstated at WL!

It does overstate by about 10-15bhp over the PE rollers. However saying that I got 330bhp at PStation, before a number of recent mods after which I ran at Well Lane

Its for comparative purposes only. Which Rolling road is accurate? and its a bit of fun and a social event
