Default 2009 Impreza STI Spec C Hatch

Hi all, newbie here. My name is Paul and I live in Mid Wales. I just purchased my first Subaru. Unfortunately it's currently 6000 miles away lol

So 2016 was pretty ****, I figured lets make 2017 fun. This begins with a new toy. I wanted something for track days, euro road trips and The Nurburgring.

It had to be fast, reliable, able to take a bag or two and not depreciate like a stone.

The finalists were an E46 M3, Evo 9 GT, Impreza Spec C Type RA Blobeye or Impreza Spec C hatch.

Well yesterday thanks to the help from Torque GT we bid and won this little beauty.

2009 Subaru Impreza Spec C
19,000 miles from new
One owner

Hopefully hitting the water in a week or two before it's 10 week journey to the U.K.

To say I'm excited is an understatement.

Hate the rear lenses and want to change them for something more subtle. Spray them or use overlays?

Oh and I'm well aware of the colour thanks lol

Won't be going silly mods wise, a stage one remap as it needs mapping on U.K fuel anyway. I don't want a full exhaust system really, should I at least change the downpipe and decat it though if remapping? Will be getting an uprated panel filter.
Have contacted TDRacing about the remap.

Great choice
Perfect car and colour, enjoy the new purchase and let us know when it lands here!
A set of OEM Recaros would finish it off.

Nice looking car mate .

im looking at some overlays for the same reason as you. Not too keen on the lights but they definitely aren't hideous. May go smoked.

I love the colour, it's without a doubt the best colour for a Hatchback STi of any type.

I've got a Blobeye Spec C Type RA and looked for a Hatchback STi Spec C but there were none about when I was looking for a replacement for my Focus RS which I'd then sold.

I'll keep an eye for out for your car as I'm often around Mid Wales either through work or in my Impreza.

PS - Mark at TDR looks after my Subaru's. A safe set of hands

I would certainly fettle the exhaust and probably air intake. That would improve the breathing and lift power to more sweet spot for the car (~370)

Welcome! Not a bad start to Subaru ownership.

That's one seriously rare car - doubt you'll ever see another one of those on U.K. roads... unless you arrange to meet up with Hedgecutter! Some even say yellow is the fastest colour.

Yes, get some overlays for those nasty rear lights, then it will look spot on.

Congrats!

Where are people getting the overlays? Can only find them in U.S.

Stunning car mate welcome to the hatch back club! Salsa king sells the over lays for the rear lights and he's a top chap.

Excellent choice chap, mine came in at the same mileage, same colour. Please check that Torque have put the right dipped bulbs back in, and that they haven't just felt tipped the fog bulb red. They also gave me the car with a suspension knock when the rear front wishbone mounts were visibly perished...to be honest they don't know much about hatches, so do your own checks. After all, it is still an 8/9 year old car. Pm me if you want any more info, it's still a great car in an outrageous colour

Forgot to say, I thought I would change the rear lights, but they look fine, and more importantly they are " jdm"

Lovely looking car there.

I'm in the process of buying a RA from Torque at the moment. Very happy with the service.

yes, they are charming, but that has nothing to do with their levels of competence in preparing a car for UK roads; maybe I was unlucky.

Torque GT are really getting good positive feedback, not just here, but most other places too

that is why I chose to spend over £21 000 with them last spring, and I am giving members on here, specifically the Op who has spent even more than that given the exchange rate, the feedback that it was handed over to me with no functioning dipped beam lights, and a bodged fog bulb. These were issues that affected my family' s safety; Torque dealt with them, fitted a dash cam Foc, and sent me an led bulb for the fog, but did not cover my costs in returning to them, my lost wages in driving 280 miles back, nor did they apologise. There were other issues that they and their Japanese agents failed to pick up, which I, a landscape gardener, noticed within a week. I would be happy to show anyone my correspondence with them. A business' s true worth is how they deal with their mistakes, and they fell short. That's just my honest feedback.

I wonder if they don't care so much when it's "an order" since the buyer is already there, as opposed to a car that they buy to sell.

What other issues did they fail to pick up?

Heavily perished rear front wishbone bush and knocking in same area, which I hope is just the bush, but could be shock or topmount. And some rust. They also thought JASMA was a make of sports exhaust.

Sorry to hear your experiences and I hope you get it sorted easily without cost.
AFAIK Jasma is an aftermarket exhaust manufacturer.

Jasma is not a manufacturer, it is the Japanese association of sports exhaust manufacturers, formed when the government threatened to ban aftermarket exhausts, to set agreed standards
