Default New money pit/project series 2 legacy

Just bought this with the aim of a full restoration to have it absolutely mint and rust free by next summer.

I was planning on making it standard again and running it stock but I'm already thinking of throwing money at the engine

Hopefully if my mate can fit it in ove Xmas, full glass out restoration new rear arches/sill and full respray in original colour.

It's already quite quick and I had intended to restore it back to factory spec so it was completely standard..........but every time I look at it I want to strip all unnecessary weight out of it and up the power to around 300, I'm also toying with the the idea of fitting a 5sp dccd set up although I'm not sure how difficult this would be....

I just love the look of the thing and the fact you very rarely see them anymore, I can't actually remember the last time I seen a saloon car on the road tbh.

Cheers

Mick

Love it proper retro I have looked at buying one a few times but you're right you just don't see them anymore especially in tidy condition.

Would that be the user "Oskar" who has the awesome thread in the projects section? Doesn't seem to be on here anymore.....I have questions for him

To be honest I seen this for sale 5 minutes from my house, then I stumbled across that project thread then I thought sod it I'm having it lol.

Used the car a few days this week and 70 miles for 25 quids worth of shell nitro seems a bit worrying

How would I go about finding his posts on Facebook fella?
Is it on his own page or a Subaru page?

Cheers

Hi mate I'll follow the Facebook page, I need to make a list of questions!

Basically I'm currently looking into what parts I can use from an Impreza for better results such as the alloy wishbones etc, I'm also having problems with my gearbox, I knew it had a worn synchro (I believe) as it was notchy into 4th gear when changing gear at high revs but now it seems to be getting worse and it's difficult to get 3rd gear now also.

Is there any benefit/difference fitting a 5sp box from an Impreza? Gear ratios etc etc obviously I'd need to match the rear diff to the box.

Cheers

You can fit nearly everything from a Impreza if you want, the Legacy is exactly the same in every way except that the wheelbase is 60mm longer so the propshaft is 60mm longer than the Imprezas. If you want a 6 speed gearbox in a Legacy you will need a automatic prop from a Legacy or to extend a STI prop by 60mm for exmple.

Wishbones fit straight on.

The only special parts are the propshaft and the rear anti roll bar, as the spare wheel well is larger on Legacy so therefore the shape of the arb is different.

The gerbox ratios is the same as a Impreza Turbo 2000 / WRX. I used a year 2000 Impreza GT Turbo box on mine after i blew the Legacy box. Currently i have a 6 speed JDM STi box with dccd.

Ecus are the same as Impreza 92-96, 4 plug ecu.
