Default 2008 Impreza RX

Hi

We have recently picked up a 2008 Impreza 2.0RX with 22000 miles on the clock, looked brand new, 1 stone chip on the bodywork and interior in perfect condition. The only thing that lets the car down is the corrosion on the alloys which will be sorted soon and getting the cam belt changed next week.

One thing that I do find strange is the dash does not illuminate unless you have the lights on, hard to see speedo when driving through dark spots, under trees etc.

Is there no dash brightness roller switch beside the electric mirror adjustment switch?

Hi Gambit

There is and it brightens or dims the instrument panel when the lights are switched on but it is not illuminated when the lights are off, the needles are red and show up well but not the dials. Was not sure if this is how it should be.

Have you checked the owners manual for operation of the illumination/dimmer switch??

The Impreza seems to be slightly different to the WRX/WRX STi

According to parts you should have two switches (items 5&6)

one is "illumination control switch", the other "switch- lighting leveller"(headlights)

Hi Don

My dials light up when the lights are on but nothing when the lights are off, tried the illumination control switch which adjusts with the lights on but does nothing when the lights are off. I can't believe that there are 2 illumination bulbs for the dials, one for lights off and one for on but who knows. Will play around a bit more before getting it looked at.

Cheers
