After many years of want I have finally managed to get myself an Impreza. Iv actually waited years for this tbh. I purchased the car from a relative. Needs a little bit of work. I'm going to wait till the spring to actually get it on the road as don't really want to be driving around with all this salt on the road.

The car

So it's a an import sti wagon, number 3 of 200, running 300bhp. Was dynod a couple years back now. Ideally I'd like to get the cambelt sorted then get it mapped. I'm going keep it as a summer car, classic, not use it every day. She's getting old now and has been used daily since she came over here so I'd like to pamper her a bit now.
So far, have replaced the grill from a cheap looking mesh to a standard one







the fog light was smashed so replaced that and in the process of replacing both front wings. Drivers side was really bad. The passenger not so. Will do it anyway. Here's some pics. Will be updating regularly. Maybe looking at replacing the wheels, still undecided, any/all comments.












It also was covered in stickers, they'd got most of them off but it was stil covered in glue so took an absolute age to get off but is all done now. Looks so much better now it's all washed and cleaned.

Had this about 8 years ago, lovely to drive but brakes were crap. I put some 4 pots on the front and it felt a lot safer.

 

Nice Paul! Is that still around? Yeah that's on the list of things to do. Just getting it mechanically sound first. Get the bodywork sorted then ideally I like to sort the brakes out. Would like to put the gold brembos on it but will see how we go.

 

Last I know of it, it was in Romania but they having trouble mot wise as they did not have the car on the data base they use.

 

Fair play to saving it ! I'd like a V1 but seems to be hard to find.

 

I'd completely forgotten about this thread. So far, aesthetically not a great deal has happened. Iv cleaned it up. Sorted out some of the rust. Got an arch that needs repairing but have been clearing mechanical jobs off of the list. So far jobs completed

Cambelt/waterpump change including all idlers and tensioners
Rad washed out and all hoses replaced
Power steering pump replaced as the old one was noisy and the original reservoir kept leaking so replaced with a later model one
Hks mushroom filter replaced
Maf cleaned
Idle air control valve replaced due to revs fluxuating
Central locking repaired due to intimitant locking/unlocking. Turned out to be a dirty switch
Rocker cover gaskets replaced
Harvey smith 'trick up pipe' fitted
Gearbox and diff oils replaced
Front brakes upgraded to 4 pots. Completely rebuilt by Godspeed with new discs and pads along braided hoses.

And basically that takes me to now. It's taken me ages to sort some of these problems due to hunting around problem solving and process elimination. But it now runs so much better than previously.

Next thing will ideally be a set of 17" soeedlines oh and sort out the rear rusty arch then probably a respray. Then after that coilovers, later sti rear lights. And replace the wind deflectors. The old ones got broken by the previous owner so they removed them. Would like to put them back on. So there we have it so far. Actually able to drive it now which is nice. Although I think a remap might be worth while just to make sure things are all gravey. Don't exactly want to blow it up tbh. Al comments greatly received.

After some final fettling I have it running how I want. Also found a set of wheels iv been after for a while and they were only down the road which was ideal. So repainted them and here are the final results. Just a respray now and get rid of the tints a couple of other small meanial jobs and that's about it ��

 

Coming on nicely. I still miss my classic wagon. Well done for persevering with it.

 

Yeah it's getting there. Thanks for the comment. Takes a while sometimes but it's been a good learning curve.

 

Look really good well done. STI rear lights next? I really liked your old wheels.

 

Cheer jaygsi - yeah the old wheels were quite nice but they were 18s and made it a very crashy ride so decided to ditch them. I have thought about the later lights as I really like them, change the look of the rear end quite a bit but it's fairly common and wanted to keep the outside relatively standard. If I find a set cheap then I'll probably do it. For now I'm happy as is. Would rather get a full spray job first.
