New STi Hatch owner in Germany
Hi all,
Seeing as there isnt a Noob section I thought I would take 5 minutes to post up some photos of my new toy.
Whilst lurking on here over the last 7 years I have had many cars, to name a few... but not all (leaving out the current Mk 1 Octavia VRS daily driver
Integra Type R DC2
Caterham Superlight R300
Integra Type R DC5 (Nurburgring toy)
Evo 6 TME
Evo IX MR FQ 360
BMW 330d M Sport (RIP).
BMW 335d
Civic EJ9 K20
Civic Type R FD2
But, as you will see, never an Impreza!! I actually test drove one brandnew in 2007 that I wanted to PX my R300 for as doing 15k in one year in a new R300 whilst exhillerating did nothing for my health or sanity. Anyway, I didnt get the Scoob because I got an outright sale on the Caterham.
So, recently, I did a straight swap for my FD2 which I imported from Japan this year as it was taking ages to register over here and I wanted a car that I could use in the winter so.....
My swap.
A German registered LHD Impreza STi from 2008 with 46k miles.
It was a nice blue one but the last owner for show decided to wrap the car for the summer shows, I have to say, I like it!!
The car is running around 330bhp and was remapped in the UK when all the engine failures were starting to first occur.
From what I can tell the car has the following:
18" Rota G Force wheels 9" or 9.5" I think, ET35....? I have yet to get them off and look.
Continental TS810 xl winter tyres.
BC RM series dampers.
Gyro front brake discs and Project MU pads (new pads on order).
Mishmoto radiator.
Perrin crank pulley.
Perrin stubbi arieal.
Perrin exhaust.
Perrin downpipe.
Possibly Perrin manifold (TBC).
Bailey BOV.
Defi oil pressure, oil temp and boost gauges in dash mounted pod.
Greddy touch screen display.
ProtoXide EGT.
AEM wideband.
Alpine headunit.
Full 4 month old vinyl wrap in matte black.
Aftermarket grill and surround.
Carbon rear diffuser.
Carbon fron splitter.
Carbon brake ducts.
So, apart from a bit of a clean up, removing the 'illest' decal from within, removing the custom wrapped Subaru badges putting them back to standard and refurbing the IC with a new red STi logo I have no furhter plans for the car.
Here are a few pics.
So, as you can tell, these are iPhone photos.
I will break out the EOS 60d at some stage once I have my number plates and new registration complete with new winter tyres for the arrival of winter.
I will no doubt be posting a few questions in due course, ones that I have not managed to find the answers of from my recent searches.

Thanks, it's had nothing but good comments from all who have seen it so far and I've only driven it 100 miles back from the guy I bought it from and since then its just sat still for the last week.
It has been washed and detailed since then but I dont have photos.
I guess the old owner did it right with the look, apart from the badges.... Scoobynet opinions on these welcome.

Very nice hatch you have fella, love the wrap and looks spot on IMHO. We're swapping our Fabia VRS for an Octavia VRS early next year for an everyday driver as the Fabia's done us proud over the last few years or so. If you haven't yet done so get some pics up on the hatch thread

I have to say, when I first viewed the car after the owner drove 100km down a pi55 wet autobahn and the car was full of family junk, I was not keen on the car at all.
It went very well, good strong relentless power, much less lag than my Evo IX but I was sent some recent photos of later on (clean I might add) and in all its angryness and glory it sold itself to me
Many thanks for the links!
Luckily I had a couple of bottles of Meguiars Quick Wax which from reading detailing world articles on wrap protection is fine for them.
I will have a look anyway as I'm always looking for the best stuff.
The carbon bits are really expensive? Ok.... I will have a look

I will get some photos up on the Hatch thread when I have some good ones in a decent location.
The VRS has been a great car, I have done 20k trouble free miles in the last year on it, only now at 53k has my O/S drive shaft decided to give up the ghost
I will probably get a later Octavia VRS next year but diesel or maybe another 330d M Sport as a daily, I will see.
I did look at the Fabia VRS, remapped and with a few mods they can be very very quick

Do you have a link for the carbon ducts? I don't know what make they are or where they can be bought from.

Not my cup of tea at all but no doubt a clean car that's been looked after.
If you want to cross swords with some of those big German saloons in a straight line you can get the engine forged and fit a billet turbo.

Although the odd flame wouldn't go a miss, something to keep their number plates warm this winter as they do love to sit 1 FT away on the Autobhan. Flames from my Evo 9 on over run always rectified that issue

Well that was a fun day.... 😒
Got my plates on the car, HAPPY DAYS!!
Car battery was flat having sat for 2 weeks in the cold so I jumped the car and left it burbling away for 5 minutes whilst I loaded the shopping basket sized boot with oil and tools.
Drove away up the road in a 30mph zone, I got 1.5km from home and saw steam or smoke coming from the front so pulled over and stopped the engine.
Lifted the bonnet and I could see loads of steam pouring out from the front of the car and nice green collant starting to trickle down from under the radiator.
Anyway, recovered to my friends garage and removed the radiator and 5L or so of coolant which was nice because I thought that maybe the head had gone.
We found that a tiny stone must have damaged the radiator sometime ago and caused some corrosion which finally let go on the Mishimoto radiator sending steam gushing out!
A very lucky escape. Just having the radiator repaired but I'll probably just buy a new one to be honest.
So, this Impreza ownership so far is much more eventful than my Evo 6 or 9!!

Dropped the oil and changed that today along with new pads all round and I even found more mods that I'll add to the list I wasn't aware of 😃
All good though and hopfully this week after a little TLC I'll have some decent photos of if the car 😎

Ok, so, its been a while and I finally have a few quick photos of the car now she's up and running from the other week.
I am having the car remapped at Thwaites Develpments in Warwick this week as I drove the car over lastnight getting here this morning, 800km's later.
Its a great car to drive on the long runs and I managed 27mpg on cruise at about 75mph all the way off boost so thats not too bad and through Germany I didnt touch the brakes for 170km on the first leg
I took the ferry at Dunkirqe and they were kind enough to let me go on the HGV's due to the silly low front but it was fine, no contact! Although the splitter does need some TLC from historic mishaps (from the last owner).
Anyway, looking forward to the tweeks that Mark will make on the car and I look forward to getting a few better photos of it up once I have gutted it tomorrow as its covered in crud from the trip.
