Default Picture Request - Under Bonnet Hoses, What Color ??

Hi,

As the title suggests I want to see what colour hoses people have gone for as I am undecided what to do with mine.

I recently purchased a 2005 STI in Black and have got the exterior all black, black wheels etc.. with a few carbon fibre bits n bobs, Now want to start with the under bonnet and really undecided as to which colour goes best

Current look

Had thought Pink as its the STI colours then Blue as the car has blue seats

So hopefully will get a few ideas off here

I have replaced all mine with black ones. Colours look tacky.

I would stay largely OE but with some Samco red silicone coolant and radiator hoses, it just breaks up the monotony of the factory setup.

Now IMO that's something a little different but not over the top, offset nicely by the darker car (Black I presume ??)

Lime green wouldn't be my personal choice but it shows what I am thinking about a little colour under the bonnet

Mica green is my wagon
Samco also do pipes in British racing green which is dark
Black and green really works as a contrast

Hadn't considered green to be fair, now you have thrown another colour in to the mix

This I the car in its current exterior form (Now plus a carbon front lip)
[IMG][/IMG]

So with the Pink grille badge I had thought Pink pipes, Then I thought Blue to Match the blue seats, Now I have seen the green against a darker coloured car........

But you can see why I reckon a bit of colour under the bonnet would look good ??

I see your point, but is it any different from most mods that are either personal preference or make next to no difference to the car other than to be on the list of mods, isn't some of the fun and enjoyment personalising it ??

Plus based on your reply I don't really see the difference between obsessively cleaning things like spare wheel wells, door shuts, underside, wheel arches unless when you park up to go shopping you leave the door open, the boot open and mirrors underneath the car for all to see, but yet most if not all of us clean the cars way more than the average owner

WOW That's had some serious colour coding done to it, looks awesome

A little bit further along than I have though so far
Just a change of a few pipes from dull OEM black to something a little more interesting was on the cards

These serve a purpose and help with the longevity of the car.

Changing a black bit of pipe for a lime green bit of pipe doesn't achieve much (unless the black bit of pipe is perished/leaking etc).

Yep, I am miserable
Not really no, with modern car construction and painting techniques you don't need to be that obsessed if you don't want to be, Cars are also designed and tested against water leaks and damage, in fact I am sat in the new Range rover sport facility as we speak and parts I have applied sealant to with a robot have been put onto a car and its being tested now.

The point I was making was you don't get in / out of all 4 doors and the drain channel around the boot gets dirty because it carries water away but when parked up its not seen and being a little dirty still serves its purpose ??

Replacing hoses, correct me if I am wrong but aren't the after market ones like most mods higher quality materials than the standard ones ??
So would open the argument up to why does anyone "upgrade" anything if OEM equipment serves the purpose ??

Early 2000's Mercedes suffered with a lot of quality issues for varying reasons and worked hard to improve on newer models.

I never said your car should be caked in cr@p its whole life and of course any car or possession benefits from being looked after goes without saying.

better made rubber, higher operating temps etc.. lead to a better product ??
Companies like Samco wouldn't be so well known if their product wasn't that good surely ??
Why do we all use better oils, brakes, tyres, bulbs etc... than that supplied by the manufacturer as they all serve their purpose

Lol, I've never heard of them before reading this thread!

"We all"???

I don't even know what the factory fit tyres should be on my car. It's not on the standard alloys (I realise the irony of this statement) as the previous owner decided to put prodrive speedlines on it ... which I actually don't mind at all because the gold ones look gash and pure chav, especially alongside WR blue. I went with PZero Rossos because they'd stopped making the GSD3's that were already on it.

With regard to oil, I go with whatever grade is recommended and whatever is on offer at the time, and bulbs - whatever fits.

I am not entirely sure where this is leading, and I don't want to derail the thread entirely, but lime green hoses are just pure and utter crap and the blue ones aren't much better either
Do tend to agree with you slightly as I have found it hard to keep replying when a hose is just a hose but I want a different colour and as you have said and as per the original request so as not to derail it I will stick to asking for pictures of different colour hoses

Do like the irony of you not running standard alloys though

You really are a sad character that probably has a beigh shirt and brown jeans and 80s decor in your house And a Nokia phone clipped to your belt

It's a good Job we are not all the same

I'm brave with lime green and googling it wasn't many subarus around with lime green I'm pleased with the overall results check out my full thread on scoobynet including the fantastic work from Locky in candy green
Brave yes but worth it
Price for my full package £1700 aprox which is fincial madness on a 14 year old car worth 2k and another 3/4 k planned in the next 2 years but hey
No point in being the richest man in the graveyard

Don't drive with bonnet up
Yes but at shows the in thing now is bonnets up to show your wares

Been on the scene for many years and 5 years ago at the NBO maybe 10% of cars showed off this year nearly half showed off their colours and shiney bits

Done 4 shows lately with B-SPOC and most cars had the bonnets up to show their hard work
And the stands were packed with people intersted in what's under the bonnet
That's what's having a smart car is all about

But to say different coloured hoses are crap on an enthusuists forum shows maybe you don't really belong here and should maybe have a more basic motor like a Dacia or maybe an Austin
Allegro as I saw a brown one with beigh interior and black hoses at a show on sunday

No thanks, I've already seen what you've done under the bonnet, I'd rather not see what else you've done to it

And what's it worth now? I wouldn't give you 50p for it.

I thought cars were for driving?

Hmmm, I expect an Allegro is worth more than your car
I am here to get information about the cars from other people that have had problems and resolved them. I am not here to tell you that your car looks da bollix & mint m8! when I think it looks quite stupid.
extremely rude and uncalled for.

I have seen your photo bucket pictures of your blob sti from your resurection thread and you are certainly one to talk

with all the dents, rust, scrapes in paint work, cloudy headlights and paint flaked alloys and stone chipped to **** front bumper
maybe you should shut the **** up and go and address your own cars problems as it looks like your impreza has had a neglected life in your care
and looks like a bit of a right dog

here is xlines super mint example itz da bollix m8 I tell ya proper mint machine INNIT !!

hope you enjoy this lordharding

very bad example of a blob sti Xlines car is, no wonder he is looking at other people problem pages as he is trying to fix up this junker LOL

Used to like my wR blue in my new age
As it polished up quite well

Still prefer the Greenwagon though

Likes a drive out too

Nice to show off as well

Wouldn't sell it for any price so it's good job I didn't except the 50p offer

And my other cars in my fleet are

Was at RCM yesterday and they had a pink! (STi cerise) Samco in one of their display cabinets.

Can you imagine a bay full of that colour - someone must've gone for it(?)

Hahah Xline - what a sh!tter you have there! To be fair if you come onto a forum like this and start slating people for customising and looking after their car, you've got to expect a lot of stick, especially when your car looks like that. Bottom line is people can do what they like to their car, its for them not anyone else.

The Pink ones aren't a good look then ??

The whole reason for starting this thread asking for pictures to try and see what looks good rather than jumping in and then not liking it once its complete

It would seem that every car benefits from a good clean and being looked after other than yours

I just paid to have my front and rear bumpers re-sprayed as they ad a few scratches and a little bit of damage on the one, the car looks 10 times better for it.

You say that, but if it was up for sale you wouldn't even get market price for it, I for one and I am sure a lot of prospective buyers would walk away as there are plenty of other blue ones out there in better nick, so for those reasons I would say there are things wrong with it
