Default Dash Swap Handbrake Light MOT Fail

Scoobynet, please help.......... I recently swapped the clock set in my bugeye impreza for a version 8 STI model. I followed the advice I got on here and managed to get the DIff Temp, Shift buzzer and ABS all sorted and working. I can't seem to get the handbrake light to work, it just remains on..... worse still it has just gone in for an MOT and failed just on the light. I have 10 days to resolve the issue or I will have to re-wire and put the original clockset in (not what I want to do.)

Thanks

Something simple like the handbrake switch stuck?

Or maybe the original worked on a switched live and the new one a switched earth? Or vice versa.

Google may help. A lot of the N. American sites do more with electrics than we do over here.
