As topic says. Are the replacement bulbs in a Cibie H1 or H2 and how do you change them?
Cheers

They were supplied by ScoobySport for an MY99/00 Impreza..........
Any ideas - or could it still be one of many? If so I guess the best way will be to look at whats in there already!! Any idea how they come apart?
Thanks

Right. If they were supplied by SS they are Oscar +, which take H2 bulbs.
Remove (slacken, it doesn't come right out) the brass screw under the lamp rim. Prise bottom of rim outwards, and up. Glass/reflector/rim should come off. Remove two spade connectors from bulb holder and the reflector will come away. Remove spring clip holding bulb holder into reflector and take holder/bulb out. Lift up blade clip that holds bulb into holder on one side and slide bulb out of retaining pin/slot (don't touch bulb envelope). Repeat for other side of bulb.
Reverse to fit new bulbs. Do not twist the flat metal base on bulb as they can break. If bulb holder springs are discoloured (straw/blue colour) they have overheated and holders will need replacing too (bulbs will probably keep blowing if you keep them).
Hope this makes sense!

Thanks Dave, makes perfect sense
Took them apart last night and had a look at the bulb and it looked fine. Had a bit of a play and it popped right back into life Must've been a dicky connection.
Cheers for the help.

Unfortunately that is quite often the beginning of the end, particularly if they are 100w or higher bulbs.....
The bulb runs hotter, heats up the bulb holder springs, they detemper and arcing occurs between the bulb and holder, which then get coated with oxidised metal which creates electrical resistance.......end of bulb or holder, or both.
Not wishing to be a harbinger of doom.......but you can delay the end for a while by cleaning up the bulb/holder contact points with a bit of sandpaper so they are shiny metal again

So, Dave, how much for a new holder?
Light went again last night, tap the whole lamp and came on again. The bulb holder is filthy, though the bulb is ok and I've cleaned it up. Time for a new holder..........
