Default Spoiler Gasket

Looking to remove and re-seat the spoiler on my 2005 STI.

It seems to have a bit of a rattle when I close the boot lid, or if I grab hold of the spoiler and give it a little shake.

I don't want to just tighten the bolts further (they seem pretty tight already) in fear of damaging the wing, but I thought I could remove it - check the underneath, give it all a good clean and then reseat with a new gasket.

Any idea where I can get one online? I'm not close to any Subaru dealers and I'm pretty lazy.

I'd really not bother with a gasket.
Seat it in a continuous bead of this: http://www.thecaravanshop.co.uk/work.../prod_513.html, make sure you put a continous bead also round all bolt holes and spoiler brakelight wiring hole.
Reseat spoiler and tighten.

The beauty of this stuff is it's waterproof, sticks like ****, and CAN be removed at a later date if necessary, unlike some sealants.

Oh, and if any oozes out, it comes off with white spirit

I've heard a few people on here have found rust under the boot spoilers on these cars. So be warned mate.

How the hell did I manage to stick this in Lighting and Electrical? :lol!:

Yeah prepared for the rust, though I'm pretty sure it's normally just rusted fixings rather than nothing more sinister.

You could replace all fixings with stainless?

Either ebay, or www.yell.com, enter "bolt and nut stockist".

How did you get on with this? I want to take mine off in the spring for a clean up and machine polish. Has anybody got hold of a new gasket?

That's the way I'll go if I can't find a gasket.

It's the way I did it even though I HAD a gasket: that stuff doesn't go off at all and is waterproof for ever.

But if you NEED it off, just unbolt and pull hard, then clean up with white spirit.
