Upgrade HID Bulbs from 35W to 55W

Anybody tried upgrading the OEM 35W HID bulbs on a Hawkeye to the new 55W type? I suppose the ballasts would need changing. How easy might that be?

Any ideas?

IS there such a thing as a 55W HID yet? So far, I've only seen ballasts.....

I'm sure alcazar knows better than me but I thought HIDs had a legal limit of 35W.

I agree with the ever helpful Alcazar.

If you look had enough you will probably find50/55w is for 24 volts.

I have the 75W HID kit fitted to my blobeye. the kit comes with 2 x 75W ballasts, 2 x 75w HID bulbs and I opted for the 6000k colour temperature. I fitted it today and it looks very impressive, its very white bright light but not blinding . I may decide later to change the HID bulbs to 4300K as these are the best for visibility above all others in the Kelvin range.

before this I had the 55W HID kit fitted which I purchased from HIDS4U.
