Do UK and Japanese cars have different clusters?

A brakelight went last weekend and while I was at work he went to the auto factor place in town and got me a bulb. I got home and he'd brought home a round bottom bulb (which is what their system said was correct) but upon examination of my lights, they had a flat bottom one.

I went to Halfords on Saturday and their little book gave the same bulb as the auto factor place. I did manage to get the correct bulb and the guy said it was different because it was an import. I have a GX Sport and wasnt aware of any import, unless the previous owner has changed the lights at some point.

Not afaik. The only difference was in the STi lights, which had no amber plastic.

I've certainly not come across different bulbs.

The only ones I've seen are twin, and single filament.
