Handbrake switch?

Default Handbrake switch?

Right, my handbrake light started to be permenantly illuminated a few days ago and I`ve now (I think) sussed the fault. Regarding my turbo timer, if I take the keys out with the handbrake applied the timer runs down as it should. If I take the keys out with the handbrake off the engine shuts off, again as it should. Well now, if I take the keys out with the handbrake off.....the timer runs down......sooooooo it`s gotta be the handbrake switch sticking, yes? If so, where do I find it? Ta

is there's a switch? i thought it just ground? bad connection/split wire?
i maybe wrong though!

There is a switch, it a little white, (on my classic), plastic thingummy, at the base of the h/b lever.

You'll need to open the centre arm-rest cubby, prise up and remove two screw covers, remove screws, and then lift the rear odf the centre trim, (the one with the mirror switches on etc) from the rear, it then CLIOPS out at it''s front, which is behind the gear lever.

Probably just a bit of dust or grit in the switch.

I take it this is the switch. I tried pushing it all the way down with my finger but the light doesnt go out

That's it. I'd remove it and clean it out if you can. Probably got the terminals stuck, or summat.

A new one wouldn't be too dear, scrappers or even dealer?

I had a issue with my light staying on,it was my brake fluid level warning sensor located in the brake fluid cap under the bonnet

Follow the wire from the cap and unplug it see if the light goes out,if so replace the cap

Dohh its not in the cap its in the bottom of the bottle lol but unplug it and see if the light goes out

There again.....still doesn`t explain why my turbo timer doesn`t shutdown when I take the handbrake off Maybe it`s a faulty switch AND low fluid d`oh.

Topped fluid up, light went out eventually and now the turbo timer shuts down if I drop the handbrake like it should. The `low level` light staying on must have confused the timer into thinking the handbrake was still on I suppose.

Just need to keep an eye on the fluid level now just in case it`s losing.
