Default Which battery.

I went to start the car and.......dead as a dodo!!! The alternator is new so I reckon it`s gotta be the battery. I put my boost charger on it and it started straight away. What replacement do people recommend? It`s a 2003 Blob STI. I did do a search but found nothing. Cheers.

Just looked at a couple and they`re only rated for 262bhp so I`ll need a better one?????????????

I`ve seen a 70Ah and a 75Ah. Do I need a higher capacity one if I`m not running a standard setup or will 60Ah do?

That IS weird.

Get the battery and alternator checked by an auto electrics place, to be on the safe side

BTW: batteries aren't usually rated by the power of the car, but they need to be MORE powerful if you have lots of electrics, or a diesel engine with high comprression etc.

If you do need one, buy from a reputable place, or buy one with a reputable name.

The alternator is a Subaru reconditioned one which is only a few months old so shouldn`t be that (hopefully). But, the voltage seems to be ok too....just over 12 with everything off and then 14.4 with the heater on

i've had similar problems with my blob STI and i found my battery and alternator to be fine. Its like something is draining the battery but only at random. I have had no problems for ages but would not be shocked if it happens again.

Well, it`s possible that because I`ve had my windows open and heater off over the last day or two, that the "smart" alternator hasn`t put any charge in I assumed that my stereo would create some draw on the battery and keep the alternator charging but I`ve just checked and it makes no difference to the amps when on.

Conclusion.......it may have been self inflicted

I`ve just had our shift electrician check the battery and it`s losing about half a volt over 12 hours which seems a bit much in his opinion. Alternator is fine so, new battery needed I reckon. I have a Bosch at the moment but I`ve heard good stuff about Varta. What do most people use / recommend? Cheers.
