This has happend twice now.
1st car went to bodyshop for 10 days and came back with a flat battery. Subaru garage had to use booster pack to start it.
2nd got back off a 2 week holiday and battery was flat.

MY99 with i original battery. (is this the prob)
RAC Trackstar (could this be the prob)

Any ideas?

If its a standard MY99 with the Sigma alarm then the alarm should bleep occasionally if the battery is on its way out.
A MY99 battery is probably on its last legs by now anyway - so change it as a precaution.
They cost around £50 from most suppliers.

Hope this helps

just noticed this. I've an 02 STi with RAC TrackStar and after 2 weeks on hol with car in Garage came back to flat battery so guess this is probably the culprit.

I have a P1 and also get flat battery when left for 2 weeks +.
Also blame the RAC trackstar.
Can this be disconected when leaving the car for a few weeks??

Don't think disconecting would be the answer really. If i was on holiday for 2 weeks i would want it working

Not the news i wanted but as your saying, i think the tracker is the problem.

Might have to give trackstar a bell.

Leave the car in secure airport car park with barrier lock-so unlikley to go anywhere
Just getting fed up of arriving back late, after working abroad, to find a flat battery. Going to replace the battery to see if that helps.
Let me know what Trackstar say.

Before you go changing car batteries or contacting tracking company, check the back up battery for the Sigma M30 alarm as this can also display symptoms mentioned i.e. car battery going flat after a couple of weeks.

I just came back from 3 weeks holiday in Australia to find my MY99 wouldn't start. Standard Sigma M30 alarm, no RAC trackstar. Recharged the battery overnight and it started but failed to hold enough charge to start car at lunchtime.

Had the battery checked and 2 of the 6 cells were duff. Replaced with battery from Halfords for £56 and everything now sorted. If your MY99 is still on the original battery I would suspect it is on its way out like mine.

Looks like Sube fit undersized batteries. Our 95 Legacy used to eat batteries, and leaving the interior light on overnight was enough for a flat. Last time we got the biggest one that fits and had no trouble since.
