You won't have a problem in plastic reflectors if heat is your worry - the average HID capsule only draws around 35w, and the wattage is pretty well related to heat output i.e. the higher the wattage, the higher the heat output.

thanks dave, my concern wasnt so much heat, even though the interior of the elements hit 5000K!

I was more concerned that teh standard lights are supposed to be crap due to reflector design rather than low powered bulbs.

If this is constant then maybe I am wastign my money with HID.

The company do claim that a lot of their purchasers are infact impreza owners.

Adam,
I did consider the Belof's a while back, when looking at improving the lights. In the end I went the morette route, cos I'm a tart

I'd be interested to see how the HID and the well known 'iffy' reflector design work together.

I think your reflectors will be the later style ones, which are a tad better than the older ones, but still not fantastic.

I hope that you see a massive improvement to be honest.

Keep us posted on how it works out.

If I remember back a while to a previous post, don't the Bellof's have some sort of rudimentary mechanical bulb dipping thing so you have dip and main beam?

its not mechanical at all, it is a different arc in the element which is congruous with the main beam element on a standard H4 bulb.

Thats why they are expensive, they are the dual beam bulbs.

Adam,

I've got the single beam HID's that Scoobysport sell in my standard (old style) headlights and they are superb, the only problem being that they do suffer quite badly from light leakage and I have had to tape over the high beam area of the lens. They are far, far superior to any high wattage bulbs I've tried in the past. I have bought the HID kit off of scooby370 and will fit it to my car in the next few days,so ican tell you what the dual beam kit is like then. A company in the back of evo is advertsiing doing the Bellof kit in the UK. Have a look at http://www.ca-automotive.co.uk/products.shtml They are right at the bottom of the page. They are quoting £795.

You can be an even bigger tart and do what Dave and I did and fit the HID kit to the Morrette's

Chris,
Trust me, i've considered HID in the morettes both low and main beam, but it's quite a bit of cash to do it. maybe when the pay rise appears!

Stuart,

These are the people that I have bought them from.

I was buying from scooby370beast but I pulled out for reasons I would only discuss offline.

Looks like he wasnt lyiong when he said not to worry about the pull out since he had another buyer.

Cool, glad it was you. We will end up with the same kit which is nice!
