H3 is commonly used for small spot/fog lights...
H4 is a headlamp bulb, also used by PIAA in some spot/fog lights, I have a pair of 80 series spot lenses in the garage.

H3: single filament, small halogen bulb with a flexible lead to connect the bulb, ending in a male type spade connector.
H4: twin filament, much larger bulb, three prongs on the base, and three spade connectors moulded into the base.
