Hit the rev limiter and its triggered the engine light???
Today I'm pretty sure I hit the limiter in third gear.
It may be coincidence but immediately the engine light came on.
It's stayed on even after switching all off and starting up again.
Has this happened to anybody else? I know it will have thrown up a fault code but I just wondered if anybody had any ideas. The car is running fine, no effect of performance etc.
My car is a 2002 wrx, cat back exhaust and dump valve.
Cheers

Sorted, light has gone out.
Anybody know the rev limit on a bugeye wrx?
I don't like hitting it so would be useful to know.

bugeyes have a really sensitive camshaft sensor. sometimes when you hit the rev limit you get a check engine error, which goes away after some time.
stock rev limit is 7200. I am sure 100% that with stock turbo and remap you have power up to 6800 (with a good remap). when i drag race i change gears around 6700-6900

Thanks guys, this is all really useful.
I didn't read the fault code because the light went out within a few hours of coming on.
My previous car was a jdm Integra so I'm used to driving right to to the rev limit. Need to adjust to the turbo flat four. Only had it a week.
Loving the Impreza so far.

its not a warning.its camshaft sensor. rev limit is the worst thing for a boxer engine. dont push it so much
