Hi guys, the battery light on my wrx 92 keeps flickering on whilst im driving, Ive checked the connections on the battery and they are ok,

weird, the car is starting no problem so there doesnt seem to be a drain on the battery, could me alternator be on the way out?

also when the car is standing idle it tends to 'flicker' once the revs are applied it goes.

any ideas please!

Check fan belt tension.
If this is OK, have the alternator output checked, pref BEFORE the battery dies

Check that the connection on the Alternator is tight aswell, had similar on a previous car, turned out to be the nut on the starter motor was loose. On that car the alternator is connected via the starter motor main positive to the battery wher Subaru are straight to the battery. If not when you get the alternator tested ask them to check the voltage using the AC range as it sound like one of the rectifier diodes might be bust. This will allow the AC outputof the alternator to influence the battery voltage and when on the negative part of the sine wave dropping the voltage sufficient to allow the light to come on.
