Buddy are you talking about smoking the headlight or making the inside black?
The best way to smoke them would be to get a film Pictures.Gun smoked headlight protection film,smoked fog lamp protection film for cars,motorcycles ©Lamin-X.co.uk™

IMO you need a headlight output upgrade before you go down that route, especially in a classic (eg projectors retrofit).
