Default Check Engine light!!!

2001 UK BugeyeWRX

Every now and then the check engine light comes on....flashes about 10 times.
No loss of power.....no limp mode(like a vw)...just business as usuall

its happened 4 times now over a month. Each time I was in the turbo at about 70ish in fifth gear(not ragging it, just on dual or motorway)

Took it to our clubs garage but the code reader said no codes?????
It came on last night and the code reader said no codes today!!!

the mechanic reckons it must be a faulty sensor....maf/knock/this/or that!

not much point changing sensors when we don't know which one it is!

Anyways,

just wondering if anyone has had a similar problem with no codes and if you did anything to remedy it??

Thanks

Very strange - any genuine errors are logged and will show up, therefore it's probably not a faulty sensor. Worth trying with another code reader just in case.

If nothing shows up, then there's probably nothing to worry about.

One other thought - is the ECU standard?

No idea about the ecu....I bought the car as it is....it is running 240bhp with 238tqe...

I will try another reader.

Ah..........the bugeye Random CEL generator LOL

The Newage DENSO ECU which started life in the bugeye was a massive improvement on the JECS...........but threw CEL lights for a variety of reasons. Camshaft position errors are a common one.

Get the garage to check for historic codes not just any active problems the ECU might have flagged up ..

Shaun

PS at tha BHP you either have a PPP fitted or an ECuTeK remap
