Rear Light removal

Rear Light removal
I replaced my rear lights last year for STIs and had no trouble removing the old units. I an now in the process of prepping my car for paint and have been unsuccessful in removing the STI units. I have got all the bolts off and the side which meets the bootlid is loose(ish). Trouble is the black sticky **** is holding the other side solid. Have tried cutting it with a stanley knife but still no luck. I can't get my hands in that side to pull it out. Anybody got any suggestions as I don't want to break the lights

Did mine last week. Hair dryer works an absolute treat.
I clean all the black sealant off and resealed them with a heavy duty single sided adhesive foam. Once compressed it forms a water -tight seal, now perfectly dry and they can be removed with ease next time. Got plenty left you can have for a tenner if you want. PM me, if you're intersted.
