Default heater lights, Hazard button light and heated rear window light not working

1999 sti V:
Changed my radion 2 weeks ago and ever since the interior lights for the heater controls, hazard switch and heated rear window switch do not work.

The heater/AC still works as do the Hazards and heated rear window but when I switch the lights on none of these controls light up.

All other electrics/lights are fine. Another mysterious symptom is that the greeen lights on the AC and circulate buttons DO light up and in fact dim when I switch the lights on suggesting that the signal to switch onthe lights should be getting to the heater cluster.

Anyone had a similar problem or can advise me on what I may have done?

Done, taken out stereo, fitted old stereo. Problem still persists

I even cut the lighting wires (purple one and black one) and re wired them through the ash tray light which definately lights up and still no joy.

Anyone know where I can get a wiring diagram for a 1999 sti?
