I have found a set of lights on ebay
Subaru Impreza Newage Xenon HID conversion Kit on eBay, also Bulbs Lenses, Lights Lighting Accessories, Car Tuning Styling, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 14-Jan-09 15:03:12 GMT)
does anyone have experience of fitting HID on blobeye. Is it worth doing both dip and main beam and I know technically they are illegal but do they work well in these headlights or will the scatter be to much. 4300k appears to be the colour of oem so would this be the best choice. My other option would be just a low beam kit and blue tint high beam bulbs or just fit uprated standard type bulbs. Any advice welcomed

Our HID kits are very popular with Subaru owners. Nothing but great feedback.
They work great on blobeyes.

New Super Slim single beam kits weigh just 0.68kg vs 1.38kg of the normal kits. That's including ballasts, wires, bulbs, fittings, instructions (everything minus packaging).

I have heard of many cheap HID kits failing in no time. So if you are going to get any your probably best going with ones of BOB'5. I would warn that all retrofit HID bulbs are illegal to use on the road in the UK.
thanks for that, but would you advise 4300k or 6000k. and is it best just on dip. Also what sidelight and main beam bulbs would match for colour so that it looks ok. I presume most only fit HID on the dip.

Either, it's personal preference - both have a great light output.
4300k is what I have on my own car but 6000k is the most popular with our customers.
Fitting both dipped and main beams will obviously offer the best lighting output. Fitting both kits at the same time also makes it easier than fitting one at a time.
If you decide you want both dipped and main beam, just order two separate kits from the SN GB payments page and you will be refunded the delivery on the second kit

Avoid 6k for main beam, the blue light scatters in damp conditions, weird... but not life threatening.

Can you point me to any relevant info regarding 'Europe Regulations 48 and 98' & vehicle lighting, as i'm struggling to find anything?
But I have been doing some digging regarding the E marking of bulbs & how they conform to 95/54/EC
& the only info i can find is that an E marked (headlight) bulb has to conform to:
• Dimensional checks ensure a tolerant lamps beam pattern
• Electrical checks certify that the power of the lamp does not exceed the rated value
• The brightness of the bulb, rated in Lumens, is appraised by photometry inspection
• Colour temperature tests check that the colour of the light emitted from the bulb is predominantly white
Again i cant find anything that's specific to HID's ...any ideas/help?

Most people don’t know that Gas Discharge is referring to HIDs specifically. All headlights approved for HID are coded with a D. Halogen are coded with a H. Hence putting a D bulb in to an H headlight voids both there E markings. This is R98

I've ran into a slight problem tho'
My OEM headlights aren't E marked ('95 STi)?
A set of facelift OEM headlights (STi) I've got sat in my garage dont either?
& my Morette's dont either

& all of the bulbs I've collected from halfords over the years aren't marked so they're probably illegal too

I have had HID kits in every car i have had - From the same seller on ebay
Paid £30 for them off ebay. They have lasted no problem, no mental light scatter an they are bright
Every set has been 4300k - Never had any problem with overheating ballasts or burst bulbs or any of that
