Default Fuel pump priming and a short?

Before, when I used to turn the ignition the fuel pump used to prime.
Presently I get a click like a solenoid and it doesnt prime.

It runs ok when turned over and if I turn the ignition on and then off the pump primes handsomely.

Only thing I can think of is an earth short somewhere...

Any ideas please?

I have seen a couple of things causing this, Lift the base of rear seat and you will see a big plug at drivers side, undo connection and check for any part of the plug melted, caused by a bad connection at plug, there is also a couple of relays behind the dash one round silver one that never normaly gives any probems "thats the one you will be hearing" but next to it there is an orange square one attatched to a metal bracket, it can play up causing faults, easy to swap with a friend if you want to eliminate that!
couple of easy things to check!

I dont know about the wireless fuel guard or how to operate it, the alarm was on the car when I bought it.
