Default Aftermarket HID kits.

This may be of interest to some of you.

Xenon HID conversion kits - a cheap, easy and safe headlight upgrade? | Power Bulbs

While I do not agree fully with everything that Auto Express had to say in the video, my experience of HIDs is such that while the dipped beam on some kits is very good I am yet to find one where the full beam does not suffer from scatter and makes it less effective for long range high speed cross country driving.
I will stick to my General Electric H4 plus 60%.

Cue: BOB'5 "Ours are perfect, yada yada yada yada"

In fact, BOB's kits are sooooooooo good that not only do they completely cure the problems of the classic light AND the H4 HID conversion, they also make the driver sexier and stronger and a FAR better driver.

Buy a set today............no, buy two

The word on the street is that VOSA and the police are going to start cracking down on HID kits. MOT inspectors are also being told to look out for them. If they catch you with one fitted be prepared for a prohibition notice, an expensive vehicle recovery + a charge to have your car inspected by VOSA prior to the prohibition notice being lifted.

The "word on the street" is always scare mongering at best. Never going to happen for having HID's.
Thankfully the government has better things to spend our money on a crack down of HID kits, especially in a time of Economic crisis!

Why not start a thread about the legality of De-Cat Exhausts? OR any aftermarket tuning product?

Apparently anything aftermarket is Illegal, if you listen to some Traffic Policemen.

Come on guys, this is such a SIAL, getting boeing now, every other week a new thread pops up about HID's and if they're legal or not.

It's all been covered many many times:

Let's not make it like a Ken Block topic....

I'm with you on this, R4LLY!

I've also said in past posts that vehicles with factory HIDs are usually the biggest culprits when it comes to blinding oncoming cars aswell! A little like the guy in the X5 the other night

I love to know where 'the word on the street' really comes from!
