Electrical Wiring Issue
Hi Guys,
I recently had a manual conversion done on my JDM MY96 WRX. The guys that fitted the manual gearbox have done an amazing job - cars better than ever - THANKS DAVE at API, be back soon for all the other work.
However, they connected the reverse light sensor to the manual box, but the reverse lights dont come on and I was wondering whether anyone on here might know what is causing the issue.
I assume that the car does not think it is in reverse when it is but is it a major electrical job or something simpler.
Jason

Happy to do that, but as I explained to jsh at the time he collected the car, we cannot get them working and are not auto electricians. The obvious things that anyone would check and try have been done, after that at £48.00 per hour, it is unfair to charge a customer for our lack of electrical expertise.
APi is firstly an engine reconditioner and secondly a Subaru specialist - for mechanical repairs & things associated.
We are way too slow fitting things like gauges etc., to make it viable for us or the customer. So we advise, but don't take on electrical work.
Concentrate on what you are best at is the word here.

In Davids defense, they explained this to me and i had no issues whatsoever.
I completely understand that they are not auto electricians and I can do nothng but heap praise on all their work to date, their customer service and help and advice.
I will not hesitate to take my car back to them, and cannot recommend them highly enough to anyone.

I assume the gearbox switch itself has been tested and the continuity of the wires to the bulbs is OK ... if so, is it the correct length switch in the gearbox? other than that I doubt there's a lot to the circuit to be honest except maybe the actuating part of the gearbox possibly having issues and not making contact with the switch ... just throwing some ideas around as it may help
