Hid kit a bit confused?????? help....
just bought an h4 hid xenon kit for my 97 v4 sti. But their is two bulbs in one bulb holder for each side. i am a bit confused, i know that the main big bulb in the bulb holder is the low beam hid lamp!! but the other bulb which is fitted to the same bulb holder which is underneath the main hid bulb looks to be an ordinary halogen bulb??? is this for the main beam??? might sound stupid i know!!!! but my friend bought some a while ago,(not the same kit) but his only use a single bulb for the hi/lo beam. So i am just wondering if my h4 kit will still work with the hi/lo beam just the same?? trying to find out what the difference is??? If u can make sense of this as i am now starting to confuse myself!!!!!!!!!!!! could u let me know? thanks jamie.

Sounds like you have brought one with a halogen element on it, so you will get HID for dipped and halogen for main.
The other units (like the ones we do) are HID for both dipped and main.
Should work fine though. If you don't like not having HID for main beam you can always upgrade the bulbs.

No personal experience but by all accounts I've read these are pretty hopeless, the halogen bulb is not in the right place to get a decent main beam pattern from the reflector and lens.
Hold the new HID/halogen bulb side by side with a normal H4 bulb. The main beam filament in the normal H4 bulb is the one without the metal shield at the back. Is the filament of the bodged on halogen bulb on the new light in exactly the same place as the main beam filament in the normal bulb? If not then it won't give a decent pattern of light on main beam.
By all means fit it and see but if you can return it and buy something better in it's unfitted and unused state then I would.
