Question

I have a MY93 WRX with a Cat 1 alarm/immobiliser. I've had the car in storage for a couple of months and recently went to start it. I found that the battery was totally flat. I re-charged the battery and tried to start it again, and all I get is a click from the starter motor. Is the starter motor knackered, or could it be the immobiliser has kicked in? I have someone interested in buying it, so I need to get it started.

Had similar problem on my last car MY99.
3 times in 2 months. Each time it was loose connections on the immobiliser. The last occasion the wires even burnt out.

Lightbulb

Could be the starter motor solenoid, try giving the starter a tap.
OR
Could be the battery is so flat its nackered, sorry, could be time for a new battery.
(Isn't the alarm ment to go off if the power is interupted from the battery)

Hope you get it sorted,
Iain.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm pretty sure it isn't the battery because the lights come on at normal brightness. Will try thwacking the starter motor and if that doesn't work I'll try looking for loose connections. Thanks again.
