Check that the light is not leaking, there was several reports of leaking lights on the RB5, you may have water shorting it out, these sometimes stopped working, rusted through, I think some people got them replaced.

It's going to be a fine toothcomb job - will be probably either:

Dodgy bulb
Dodgy connection (either feed or earth)
Corrosion

My driver side PIAA on my RB5 has an intermitant fault ! just wondered if anyone else had a similar problem and knows what to look at . If I find the fault myself then it'll save me taking it to the garage.
