Default Want to hardwire from the boot

I've got a mini air compressor with a ciggy lighter connection.
I'd rather hardwire it, so its in the boot, and can use straight from there.
Would it be better to harwire the compressor itself, or a ciggy lighter adapter? Also, where from? My brake lights seem to be a permanent live. Shall I use those?
thanks

I personally would run a positive feed straight from the battery, through an inline fuse (if its only the one device you want in the boot), then to the Air Compressor. That way you can have the correct rated fuse for just the compressor without the worry of burning out exisiting cabling etc. You could even have it ignition switched if you wanted to.

You would only need to run the positive from the battery as you could take the -Ve from a suitable chassis grounding point in / near to the boot.

Thanks for the advise.
I should have hinted more towards using exisiting wiring in the boot area. I don't fancy getting all the carpets up.

I have installed a complete CarPc in my Impreza and power is delivered and installed without the need of taking carpets up.

You can generally run as suggested a single +ve feed from the battery then along one of the door sills (under the plastic trim) straight into the boot. That is what i have done and it then goes to a fused distribution block.

For example, the fused distribution block is oin the left:

I would seriously go against using the existing cables as they are rated for lighting and not a compressor which could consume more power. You don't want to set fire to your car now do you !

What model of Impreza do you have and as i am in Essex, if you are stuck, i am happy to advise.

Thanks for the advise. I have a 99 Classic.
I think I'll go with the direct +ive from the batter then.
Thanks
