Default Dashboard and Brake light problem

Really need some help with this guys if possible...ok

When pressing the brake pedal, the dashboard clocks light up ( rev/petrol/mph/temp) plus sidelights.

When turning headlights on,the brake light is constantly light plus spoiler brake light.

But when switching the parking switch on the column, press the brake pedal and theres no brake lights or any light for that matter.

Took it to a garage yesterday and he say one of the bulbs may be in wrong so he disconnected the brake switch under the dashboard but it was still happening( still getting a feed)

Any help with this guys PLZZZZZZZ before i put it in the electrical garage.
Cheers
Scud

Check the earths for the gubbins in the dash, check the lights for moisture/water damage, especially the rears.

If you don't know how to do the above, write down/print out what you think is wrong and take it to an auto-electrical place or independant Subaru garage.

Oh yeah, have a look at the earth side of the battery and trace the earth wire connections. If any are loose or corroded, clean them up or replace them.

Almost certainly an earth problem.

Look carefully at bulbs too, especially the twin filament type, as moisture builds up between the bulb metal sides and the holder, and corrosion occurs leading to a poor earth.

My lad's Saxo was like that: pressed brake pedal, sidelights came on, reversing lights flashed

as alcazar said check rear bulbs carefully, try taking one out at a time and pressing brake pedal to get it down to a particular side
also have a good check for signs of corosion around plugs and bulb holders

Found the problem guys..... removed one brake light @ a time to see if there was any difference and BINGO, one of the bulbs was shorting it out.

A little piece of the lower part was touching the higher part.

Thanks for the help guys .
