DVD compatibility with JDM TV

Hi, I have a Panasonic vm77 monitor with TV tuner that came with my car. I know that the TV tuner wont work but what about a DVD player?? I have tried my Playstation 2 but I could not get a proper picture! Anyone have
experience of this?
