Default Fire extinguisher wiring ?????

Has anyone wired an electrical fire extinguisher system to a subaru, or any car to be honest, does the power pack wire into the battery anywhere?? Their diagram shows it being self contained but surely it has to draw power from somewhere ??

Thanks
Chris

PS its an FIA004 4.0 ltr electric kit.

It has to be totally independant. That's the motorsport rules.

And for good reason, rally cars have two buttons or pull cables for emergencies. If there's an incident the marshals will run up to the car and pull (or button) the electrical cut off. That isolates all electrics from the battery so killing the engine, stopping the fuel pumps and cutting off power to any broken wiring which may be sparking away and risk causing a fire.

If, and only if, there's also a fire then they'll pull the extinguisher cable (or button it) to put the fire out.

So if you wire your extinguisher up to the battery then the marshalls will rush up and the first thing they'll do is isolate the batttery and stop the extinguisher from working.

The electrical extinguishers have a built in power source, usually one of the little square 9V batteries with the two terminals on the top. There's also a test button which you can use to check the battery still good.

That all makes very good sense. Thanks chelspeed. i'll simply plumb it in with the switches and use the power pack.
