Hi all,

Proud owner of a L Reg MY93 JDM WRX here with a possible stooopid question. Do these cars come with Central Locking? Jap Manual is pretty indecipherable.

Thing is it seems to work to lock all doors but not to open them i.e If all doors are open (unlocked) and i lock, open, then lock the drivers door all the rest of the doors lock too...but it doesnt work in reverse if you get me.

Is there some kind of problem with the mechanism or is it supposed to work like this?

Its not supposed to work like this, it should open & lock.
The drivers door has the switch which gives the signal to the central locking relay which is near the lower a pillar (passenger side)
It sounds like you may have a faulty central locking relay. But try to find a electrcal pdf for pre96, the wiring diagram is of great use. I resolved my central locking issue using the wiring diagram. Turned out that I was missing a direct live wire to the central locking relay.

Note that this is the 97/98 pdf but the door lock wiring is the same.
