Right, question time!

1) Does a MY99 UK Scooby with standard head lights use a single twin filament bulb for dipped / mean beam or two separate bulbs?

2) Are all H4 bulbs twin filament? For instance, the Demon Tweeks catalogue lists loads of PIAA H4s marked as (for example) 80/80 which produce 135/111w

3) My MY99 Scooby has Morettes fitted. I’ve replaced the bulbs in the outer lamps with the H4 Philips Vision Plus. When I go onto main beam, the outer lamps with the Vision+ don’t seem to get any brighter. The only difference seems to be the inner lamps come on – is this right or should the outer lamps get brighter?

I’m thinking of putting some better bulbs into the main only lamps which I believe are H3 bulbs. Trouble is the PIAA H3s seem flippin’ expensive, so that prompts me to put the money towards driving lamps or HID fittings for the main only pair.

Yours,

Confused of Staffs.

Blimey, I should stop reading until I've got my head straight.

Just been reading http://www.eur.lighting.philips.com/...ut_faqs18.html which suggests the H3 bulbs are more for fog lamps rather than head lights.

Time to pull a bulb out of the main beam only ones tomorrow and see what they look like!

Q3/ The outer lamps will not get any brighter when switching on the mainbeam. The inner lights will light up so you will be driving with Dip (outer) and mainbeem (inner) when you are on full beam.
Hope this helps.

Thumbs up

Cheers Bob. I know they are H4 bulbs, so I wonder why the second filament isn't used for a bit more light?
