just wired up gauges myself so this is how you want to do it.
temp
green (signal wire) to red (signal wire on temp sensor)
black on temp sensor earth to car body
red is to ignition feed
black is to earth
white looks like it connects in to your lights
orange is power also put in an in line fuse about 5amp you can us same power for both gauges.
you will find ignition, earth, lights and power behind head unit you'l need a tester which is basicly a bulb connect to earth then put other end to pins on back of connector on head unit so when ignition not on you want to look for one that lights up usualy yellow or red. ignition, put on pins then turn ignition on if lights up and turns off with ignition thats ignition. with lights you search the same way as with the ignition switch lights on and off if it does same on tester thats your lights. earth wont light up so so test all pins. ones that don't light remember then connect one end of tester to power then put other end on one you think are earth ones that didn't light usualy there either black or brown. so tape in to these and run matching wires.
oil pressure
is same as above green to oil sensor fits sandwiched in with nut in pic
then just use wires you've already tape in with.
hope this helps easy when you get going just sounds a pain

Thanx very much for your reply mate, can anyone tell me where in my classic subaru is the best place to find the connection wires. I have once heard that you can use some of the wires behind the hazard button. Does anyone know exactly which one they are?
