Which ECU - MY98.

I'm having a few problems with a MY98 which has a PowerFC fitted. As it hasn't got a standard ECU fault diagnosis is very difficult.

Its been suggested I get hold of the standard ecu for the car to help find the fault - can anyone tell me what the part code is for it?

Standard My98 UK Turbo ecu is labelled 8S

Just noticed that was for a UK - anyone know the ECU for a Jap Import?

won't the uk one work for the purposes of fault diagnosis and it'll be a safer map if it's temporary anyway?

I suppose it would - I'm just a bit worried that there may be potential timing issues / other problems as it wouldn't be the original map for that engine?
