im trying to wire my back right reverse light to work as a fog light.
i thought i could just cut the posative on the reverse light and wire it in direct to the front fog switch but ive tried it on all 6 wires on the plug and it dont work.

No idea about Subarus at all let alone Classics but lots of cars wire the reversing lights differently to what you're expecting. There's constant ignition controlled 12V on one side of the bulb and the other side goes off to a switch in the gearbox that earths it when you select reverse. Putting 12V onto either side of the reversing light bulb won't put it on if your's is wired this way.
hi mate , in answer to ya question done loads of them , you need to tap into the live on the hazard switch to give you a live for the fog switch on the dash, wire this live through the car to the back cluster and chop the brown wire that goes to the revese bulb now connect the two wires with a choc block connector, done that then tape of the bare end of the brown wire that is spare da da done
