100A! For f*cks sake what sort of earth are you trying to fit! The alternator doesn't put out 100A. The battery only puts out this kind of current to the starter motor. If the earth that is there already (like the engine block itself?) can't handle 100A then it wouldn't start now. So does it start now? Course it does. So why do you need another earth?

If you're trying to dump spurious voltages to earth to clean up the signal to the radio then the smallest wire you can get would be large enough and I'm not even sure that is really useful. So get some 2A bell wire from B&Q and try that. If it works then I'll be astounded.

BELL WIRE LOL
Are you having a laugh ?
What you gonna do when one of the original earths fail ??
Not saying they will but have you seen the mess it makes LOL
I was asking what size/gauge wire to make up an EARTH MOD KIT Not tune the radio
100A was only part of the question,You could try looking at your standard earth leads for size ideas
Anyone got any ideas of the correct size/gauge/rating of the cables on an Earth Mod Kit ????

Hello Mate

I aint seens an earth mod kit, but I am an Electronics engineer....

So is this to replace cable from body to engine and battery to body? if so I would use 16mm or 25mm copper cable.... 25mm may be going a bit OTT

I made some up as I use this cabe for welding plants that I repair, Tis very cheap... Put some lugs on the end and off you go.. If you phone your local welder repair place and pop down, they'll prolly make you some up for next to nothing compared to what 'auto' shops will charge......

Hmmm, If you PM me with length required and what size hole you need for fixing I.E 4mm,6mm I may well make you some up and send you them for free... who knows!!!!

Basically its jump lead cable, but better than the stuff you get on jump leads in halfords!!! You know the ones that melt LOL

Anyway you may not want any cable so I'll shut up now

Good Luck

Rob

FFS, between 8awg and 4 awg. If you look at the tables on that site it tells you EVERYTHING you need to know about awg cable!

Calm down Wooosh; you'll burst something

I used 8mm² cable myself - rated at 60A. Bought all my stuff from Vehicle Wiring Products. There's instructions, parts and pictures all on my website.

Stefan

P.S. Don't use this to replace the main battery -> Starter Motor connection. That needs to cope with much higher current. Have a look in the Grounding Kit thread in the Group Buy forum for what size & rating of cable was recommended.
