oil temp & pressure senders
Hi all,
I am going to purchase oil temp and oil pressure guages at the weekend, the question is, where do i mount the sender units? My car is a 1997 WRX import,
Cheers

have a look on Chiark's site for installation info
IIRC the oil pressure goes under the alternator (either on a t-piece with the original sender unit if you've got the space or replace the sender with the one from the gauge but you'll lose the dash light unless you use Defi or equivalent and set the warning light sensibly) It's possible to get a short length of braided hose to mount the sender unit a bit further away but this is more hassle.
The oil temp goes above no. 3 cylinder (right hand side of engine).
These are on an MY02 but shouldn't be drastically different...
Remember that the temp sender goes in an oil gallery that has flow through it and the pressure sender goes in one with low flow through it, i.e. don't put the temp sender on the end of a deadleg / hose as it'll never read anything like and increased flow = lower dynamic pressure for the other sender... still following this?

Hi Andy, i have a MY00 UK Turbo and i have allready fitted a oil pressure guage but there isn't enough room under the alternator and the block for the sender unit, i've been told i need a pipe to move the sender unit away from the block but don't know what the connector sizes are and where i can get one from any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated

Is your sender very large?
