P1 lights - Improving
#1
I've had the P1 now for a few months and now the nights are starting to draw in was thinking of uprating the lights. My previous 5 door had the Cibie kit on and they were excellent. The P1 including driving lights aren't that good by a long way.
So, without going the whole hog to HID's(£500), any suggestions on what I can do ? I would like to keep the look of the driving lights. Can I uprate the bulbs(wiring?)
Any suggestions welcome.
Thanks
Steve.

Steve,
Assuming the P1 head lights are same as in my '00 turbo:
If you still running standard headlamp bulbs, try getting hold of a pair of Osram +50% bulbs (try Andy Batters at Mac's garage on 01943 608892).
You might also want to get hold of some PIAA super white bulbs for the sidelights, the standard ones look a sickly yellow colour next to the Osram's!
Cheers
Tim

Steve, my car's a UK00 and the 'driving lights' are fog lights. Utterly useless, but they look nice.
Upgrading to Cibie or whatever certainly sorts out the main beam, but I drive 90% of the time on dipped and switching from Cibies to normal dipped is such a huge difference that your eyes struggle to adjust quickly enough.
Richard.

The standard spots are 55w but in a strange fittment (H7?). Hella do not recommend that a higher wattage bulb is put in, but a 100w should be available in that fitment, but prob no higher.
You could look into Superwhites etc in that fitment but 55w.
Ring up scoobysport for bulbs - I think £15 - £20 for Superwhites for the headlights (direct replacement) & £5 for similar for sidelights. Makes the dipped so much better
End of the day, just get the HID - not quite as good as SS Cibs but more than sufficient for fast night driving
