Thanks all, went to Cheam Motors this morning as they are only up the road, they too couldn't believe how stiff it was. It came off eventually.

One of my front sidelights has blown. How do you get to the bulb. I have undone the screw under the bonnet and pushed the case fowards slightly but it does not seem to want to pop out. Its a UK MY99
Thanks

David,
You have to be brave and give it a fairly strong pull forward. The ball & socket type clip can be very stiff. Maybe give it a hand from behind in the engine bay with some think that wont scratch.

The drivers side on mine just wouldnt come out. It turned out it was snagging on the cable connector behind it as it passed through a hole in the bodywork. You have to jiggle the cable where it comes into the engine bay and jiggle the sidelight at the same time to get it free.
