P1 spots

Has anyone replaced the P1 spots with a 3rd party make?
The probrive HID's look good but are way too expensive
I have some Cibie Oscar SC's which are wonderful from my last turbo. The P1's stock lights are o.k. but not a patch on the cibies.
Have you put piaa's or cibies on in place?
Do you need to replace the wiring that's in place for the standard lamps?
Also, do the covers still fit on with the new size lamps?
Thanks

Medders,
Have a look in the Demon Tweeks catalogue, and you'll see the same Hella's as the P1 lamps, they can supply either the standard ones, or HID one's.
Still not cheap! But I hear that the HID make a huge improvement over the standard P1 lamps!
Hope this helps

Thanks Andy,
I do still have my Cibie's (dealer wanted the fog lights putting back!!)
I'd like to put my cibie's on the P1, just wondered if I needed to upgrade the wiring etc...

Having gone the other way...
I would recommend you put new wiring in as the P1 spots, whilst bright, only draw 25w of power (or thereabouts) each. The Cibs obviously have about 130w each. SS have wiring looms to suit for about £20ish.
Covers won't fit over the Cibs - for sure.
The brackets for the cibs should match to the positions already there. But you might have to drill a small hole for a bolt - not entirely sure 'cos I was changing an MY99.
Please feel free to email me if any other questions & if you do decide to put your cibs in, & wish to sell the lamps/brackets, may I have first refusal on them as I have a friend who wishes to u/grade his fogs to P1 spec.
As Andy said, Hella can provide the HID kit separately and that may work out cheaper than Subaru. Have a look on their website. I do recommend the HID, tho' not quite as bright/range as the SS. There is the option of a bigger HID unit that could take the place of fogs too. That gives out more light. Sell the cibs!
